Namibians over the years have longed for their own local content which they can relate to. We applaud those that tried to bring local content on Namibian screens, but much still needs to be done to inform, entertain and educate the Namibian nation with relatable local content.
One of the shows commanding the public’s attention right now, is ‘The Search Namibia’ a TV show searching for the next Namibian sensational star across the country. The winner will walk away with a cash prize of N$100 000.
The annual vocal search reality show is a few episodes close to getting its first star with participation from contestants across Namibia. The talent reality TV-show received over a thousand audition videos of which only 188 contestants made the first cut and now the show is standing at 30 contestants.
The three-month reality show has four phases and is currently at the third phase which is the contestant cutting phase for the top fourteen that will contest during the last three live shows.
The resident judges of the show are Dice-Local who is a musician, Lady May Africa who is also a musician, and lastly Daniel Nadunya, a journalist and a music producer. The show also had guest judges Gazza, who was named the NAMAs artist of the decade, Ann singer, and OC Ebs.
The sixteen-episode reality show is in partnership with ConSoAV, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation-NBC, Namibia Film Commission, and The Namibia Arts Council.
With only 30 contestants left in the show, the next phase would be cutting them to 14, of which will be determined by 50% votes from the judges and 50% votes of the public. The voting lines are currently open for the public to vote for their favourite contestants.
